Before You Build: The Truth About What You're Selling
Your current offer probably isn't the problem—you might not have a real offer at all. Most trainers sell "sessions" or "packages." That's not an offer. That's just a thing anyone can buy.
A real offer is different. It promises a specific result for a specific person.
1) What is a Godfather Offer?
In the classic film, the Godfather, the line goes...
"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse."
That's what this is about — creating offers so good, so clear, and so safe that clients feel like they'd be stupid to say "no."
A true Godfather Offer has five parts:
Promise
A clear, life-changing result in a set time.
Proof
Real stories and faces that look like your client.
Process
Simple steps they can start today.
Perks
Bonuses that remove every excuse.
Protection
A guarantee that takes away all risk.
When all five work together, your offer becomes the easiest "yes" your client will ever make.
2) Know Your Avatar (pick the right person to sell to)
Before you build the offer, you need to know who it's for. Different people want different things.
Examples of people trainers work with:
- Busy parents – want short workouts that fit into family life, plus easy food tips that don't require cooking 5 different meals.
- Young professionals – want results fast (lose weight, look toned, feel energized) while working long days.
- Retirees – want to stay strong and move well without getting hurt.
- Athletes (weekend warriors) – want to get better at their sport, like "run a faster 5K" or "lift heavier weights."
👉 Once you pick the person, the offer must match what they want. The more specific, the better.
- A parent doesn't care about "bench press records" — they care about fitting into their old jeans.
- A retiree doesn't want "six-pack abs" — they want to garden or play golf without pain.
3) Make the Value Super Clear
Now build the specific promise.
Trainer examples:
- "In 12 weeks, new moms get strong again with three 45-minute workouts per week."
- "In 8 weeks, busy professionals drop 2 pant sizes without cutting carbs."
- "In 6 weeks, retirees improve balance and strength so they move with confidence."
Fast wins keep people excited:
- Day 1: 20-minute workout they can do right now.
- Day 2: Grocery list with easy food swaps.
- Day 3: First check-in to see how they're doing.
Make it feel simple: templates, schedules, and reminders. The easier it feels, the more valuable it seems.
Fill-in-the-Blank Offer Template:
"In [timeframe], [type of person] will [specific result] using [simple process], even if [their biggest excuse]."
Example: "In 8 weeks, busy moms will lose 15 pounds using three 30-minute home workouts per week, even if they have zero time and hate dieting."
4) Add Proof, Bonuses, and a Real Guarantee
Proof:
Show real results. Quick video clips, before/after photos, or text messages from clients.
Bonuses:
Remove excuses with tools like:
- Nutrition Quick-Start Guide
- Home & Gym Workout Library
- Daily Accountability Calendar
- Progress Tracker Pack
Important: Four strong bonuses beat ten weak ones. Each bonus should fix one specific excuse or worry.
Guarantee:
"If you follow the plan and don't see results, I'll coach you for free until you do."
"But won't people abuse the guarantee?"
Here's the truth: Less than 5% of clients who see ANY progress will ask for money back. The guarantee gets them to START—and starting is what creates results. Most people never ask because they're already winning.
5) Set Prices and Terms That Help You Win
- 28-day billing: This gets you 13 payments per year instead of 12. Clients think weekly ($49/week sounds cheaper than $212/month), but you collect an extra month of money every year per client.
- Pay-in-full perks: It's okay to lower the price a little for people who prepay, but keep your base price strong.
Example: "It's $49/week billed every 28 days. Or, prepay for 12 weeks, save $100, and get a free private session."
When possible: change terms, not your core price.
6) Action Plan
- Build your offer (promise, plan, Day-1 quick start, 4 bonuses, guarantee). Post it in the TrainSpace University discussion section so others can give feedback.
- Collect proof – Get 10 client videos or written testimonials as fast as you can.
- Set terms (28-day billing, prepay perks, no price cuts).
- Start selling using any and all ways possible.
- Set a deadline: Your offer must be live and shown to 10 people within 7 days. Don't make it perfect—just make it done.
